Before sending your work, it will save time and money if the text is in the format closest to its final form. If you are planning to have your work published, please be sure to send me the details on the format and style required by that publishing company, journal, or organization. At the very least, please send me a file or a link to a page on the publisher’s website where I can read that information. For work that is going to be self-published or not published at all, such as presentation notes and scripts or speeches, please use the standard Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced format.
Also, if possible, please send a copy of the complete manuscript so that I can see what stage of development it is at. A sample of a few pages gives me a rough idea, but the beginning of a work tends to be in better shape than the rest. For me to accurately size up the task, I really need to see the entire document or file.
Checking a bibliography or citations within the work is usually a separate task and is charged separately. I may make exceptions for short manuscripts or those with only a handful of sources or citations.
